...they gave me the script - it was called Un Verano Para Matar - Summertime Killer - and offered me five times what Duke was paying me...

Andrew Leavold just posted a veeery cool interview with Chris Mitchum over on Bamboo Gods and Bionic Boys. I'm sure you know Mitchum was in quite a few films in the Philippines and Indonesia. His LETHAL HUNTER and FINAL SCORE (from Indonesia) are totally awesome and you should watch them! There are Greek and Japanese VHS releases and they're available from Trash-online. SUMMERTIME KILLER is on DVD in Thailand (available from the American run TK Worldwide) and Fortune Star have released H-BOMB on VCD in HK (and I'm sure they're putting out a DVD at some stage). I reviewed it here .

In contradiction to the interview he did with the poor guys over at Nanarland he didn't have a problem talking about Filipino and Indonesian films this time 'round (in the other interview he kept answering specific questions about those films with "Read my book when it comes out").

As I said it's a cool interview and very long (so you'll need at least 3 cups of coffee!). Uh, and if someone can tell me which Golden Horse Award (which is the annual Chinese film award show in Taiwan) he received I'd appreciate it!! He says he got one in 1981 but I checked all categories for Golden Horse winners between '79 and '83 and I could not find him. Did they list him under a Chinese name that was too different for me to see the connection with his real name? (like Birte Tove was known as Bik Dai Do Foo when she worked in Hong Kong). Or did he remember incorrectly and it was really another Chinese award show? Or could it be, ahm, artistic freedom on his part to refer to an award that he dreamed about getting? I have no idea which is the case, haha.

You'll find the interview here.

Now watch the LETHAL HUNTER and FINAL SCORE trailers!!

PS: If you wanna watch more cool trailers check out the Lethal Hunter/Final Score uploader's other trailers. The uploader (vigilanteforce) is Trash-online by the way.

  1. In Spain ( or some spanish online dvd shops such as dvdgo)you can find Summertime killer WIDESCREEN DVD just for 5 Eurs...the problem is it is dubbed in Spanish Lang & no subts but the image & sound quality are SUPERBBBBBB!

ok..my copy I got in a department store in Spain for just 4,95 eurs...but that was in 2005 when it was released. I am not sure if this movie is still avaliable online.

  2. Thanks for that tip. However, 5 euros is around 7 dollars and in addition to that you would have to add postage from Spain. The Thai DVD is 12 dollars from TK WORLDWIDE including postage from Thailand so price-wise the two DVDs would probably be the same but the Thai DVD has the original English audio.

By the way, it's a bit of a coincidence cos I have just finished watching the film 5 minutes ago and then I turn on my computer and see your note about the film, haha. Anyway, thanks again for the info. Oh, and before I forget; there is actually a reg. 1 DVD as well now (but I don't know anything about format and quality).
