JUNGLE HEAT aka LAST BREATH - trailer for rare Thai version

LAST BREATH (Lee Ho/Jobic Wong, Taiwan, 1985) aka JUNGLE HEAT

There are four different edits of LAST BREATH: 

1. The original Taiwan version (also released in HK - released on HK VHS and US Chinatown VHS)
2. The international version entitled JUNGLE HEAT (alternative footage - released on various uncut VHS tapes, the best one being the Japanese VHS: uncut + letterboxed. The German and UK dvd's are cut!!!)
3. A censored version for Mainland China (cut for violence but includes some alternative footage - released on VCD)
4. A version made for Thailand - which has extra footage with Thai actor Sorapong Chatree (I'm going by the trailer and the Thai film poster here as the film itself hasn't been released to home video afaik).

I'm told a 16mm copy of the Thai version is stored in the Thai film archive. Hopefully, somebody will release it to blu-ray or streaming at some point.

I just discovered Knetan (aka Kenneth Brorssan) from the overly cool So good... Hong Kong movie reviews web site posted the "acid scene" on YouTube. He's taken it from the awesome letterboxed Japanese print. So if you haven't seen the film do check it out here!

Btw, I'm told this is the scene which is cut on the German DVD (and most likely also on the UK disc. If any of you have info on the UK disc it'd be cool if you'd post it here. Cheers).

EDIT: thanks to blog reader Karlos I can now confirm the UK disc is indeed cut in the acid scene. Check the commentary section.

The only release of the original Taiwan version that I'm aware of is the US VHS shown here (presented with English subs and somewhat letterboxed). This VHS is probably also released in HK. EDIT: I now own the HK VHS. Interestingly enough it's much longer than the DVDR bootleg from FLK (which is actually taken from a differently edited Mainland VCD that runs about 20 minutes shorter!!)

There are several VHS releases of the international version; I'm familiar with tapes in Holland, Greece, Denmark, and Japan. Unfortunately except for the latter they are all fullscreen. The Japanese tape on the other hand looks fantastic in its fully letterboxed scope. It's a rare tape but if you should stumble over it grab it and hold on to it. I know that's what I'm doing with mine. LOL.

There are two DVD releases of the international print but unfortunately they come courtesy of the cut and dice happy Germans and Brits. Yes, both DVDs are cut. :o(
As far as I'm informed the German DVD does however contain the English dub (but what use is that when it's bloody cut!).
