Here's a quick tip for a S-Korean VHS release of Jun Gallardo's rare RAIDERS FOR VICTORY. Or at least I think it's a page where you can buy the VHS. I don't have info on the dubbing – i.e. it may not carry the English dub.

Shopping tip #2: DESTROYERS + FIREBIRD CONSPIRACY

And yet another spiffy tip for ya: Jun Gallardo's FIREBIRD CONSPIRACY and Cirio H. Santiago's THE DESTROYERS (aka The Devastator) are up for auction from Kurt Nyfors in Finland. Both are on VHS in the PAL system and both carry the original English audio with local subtitles. The auctions run for another 17 hrs.

Shopping tip: CANNIBAL MERCENARY REDUX VHS

Some months back I talked about the then new bootleg NTSC VHS release of a fan edit of the old gore cult classic CANNIBAL MERCENARY. Only 40 copies were made for purchase (plus a number of copies made for whoever helped with the release). One of the tapes has now made it to eBay so here's your chance to get this fan edit - if you live in the United States that is!!! The seller very clearly points out that he does NOT want to ship outside the US except for Canada. A pity really as I would have liked to make a bid for the tape myself (I never received a copy. I'm told it got lost in the mail, and a second copy never arrived either. What happened to them I have no idea. Maybe there's some happy thieving postal workers out there. But then again, TWO copies lost? Maybe they just never sent the second - or the first - or any. Oh well). If you wanna make a go for it you have four days. Go here. Current bid is 15 dollars.

shopping tip: SLOANE on Finnish vhs

Kurt Nyfors in Finland is back on eBay with a new store after a long break. One of the tapes he's got up for auction is the Filipino commando flick SLOANE. It's a Finnish VHS (PAL system). 4 days 16 hrs to go, starting bid is £7, and so far there's no bidders. Go here.

The Japanese VHS release is up for grabs on eBay UK! It's one of the readers of this blog that tipped me about his auction. The seller is in France. The auction runs for another 44 hrs. shopping tip: FILIPINO WAR FLICKS ON DUTCH VHS!

Kurt in Finland has a few cool Dutch VHS releases of Filipino films up for auction. Dutch tapes are highly collectable as they are always in English and always uncut. And in most cases the picture quality beats that of Greek video tapes.

Here's a film you MUST see if you're into Filipino revenge films! TEDDY PAGE's BLOOD DEBTS with Richard Harrison in the lead and a bunch of well known ex-pat friends from the Philippines, Mike Monty, Jim Gaines, Bert Spoor, etc. The rare Japanese VHS is on eBay in Japan right now and for another almost 5 days. This film is not on DVD (and I wouldn't tip you off about this if I didn't own the Japanese and Greek tapes already! LOL). For the auction go here. Tell 'em who sent ya!

shopping tip: KAMPUCHEA: THE UNTOLD STORY

I know - I know, don't mention it, Kampuchea is a different war! But this is such an awesome chance to get an completely rare film that I'll post it anyway. LOLZ. Kurt in Finland has the ultra rare Finnish VHS release of the equally rare Thai film KAMPUCHEA: THE UNTOLD STORY up for auction. The tape is letterboxed and dubbed in English. If you check the eBay listing there's a clip from the tape. Go here. I've had the film listed here for quite some time; I own the Japanese VHS (also lbx + Eng. dub). The tape has just been put up and the listing runs for another 7 days almost. No bidders yet. Start bid $8.50. Kurt offers a free dvdr in the NTSC format if you can't play PAL tapes.

Brigade des moeurs by stebzh

And another tape Kurt is selling is even more obscure to this Filipino Vietnam war site as it's neither Filipino nor war but a French crime flick. But, sacrebleu, what a French crime flick it is!! Madre de dios!! Max Pécas' BRIGADE DES MOEURS from 1985 is totally insane and mega violent. It's so over the top that it's never been released in the US (there's rumours of a reg. 1 dvd under the title of "Brigade of Death" but I haven't been able to find any info on this alleged release and I'll put my money on it being a bootleg). The film is CUT in all territories except on VHS in Norway, Denmark, and France. The uncut tapes run 6½ minutes longer than the HK version!

The tape Kurt is selling is the fully uncut and letterboxed Danish VHS. The tape carries the original French audio and Danish subtitles. There is no uncut English friendly version. For the auction go here. There's four days to go. One bidder. Present bid is $6.50. I wouldn't tell you about this auction if it weren't for the fact that I already have a copy of the Danish tape.

The Japanese VHS release of PHANTOM RAIDERS is up for auction on eBay in Japan. It stars Miles O'Keefe, Mike Monty, Kenneth Peerless, Anthony East and Jim Moss. The auction runs for another two days and the current bid is $7.50.

Member-X of Cinehound forum has the Dutch VHS release of TRIDENT FORCE up for auction. The tape is in the PAL format. Three days to go, starting bid 5 dollars, no bidders yet. Go here.


In an email to Andrew Leavold Nick Nicholson described working on TRIDENT FORCE and some of it is pretty funny:

“It was almost like shooting a movie with the Adams Family! Norma was confined to a wheel chair. She had something like leprosy. It was eating her fingers and toes away. She was a real firecracker though. She made sure all of her relatives were involved so that they could suck every cent out of the production. She needed Anthony in a bad way. He was her Joker Card with the Escanos. To keep him happy, she encouraged her 18 year old nephew to hang out with Anthony (he was a Top Gay!) The kid later complained to me that his asshole had become like a pork rind! I think you get the picture."
