Between fans of Filipino war & action films one BIG question for a long time has been: Where the hell is Ron (Romano) Kristoff??? There's been wild rumours of his whereabouts and what he was up to, ranging from having taken up a seedy lifestyle to being lost in the jungle, working in a restaurant, being the manager of a restaurant, and to being seriously ill.

Don Gordon Bell with Romano Kristoff in Hong Kong, September, 2010.

Well, fortunately I can now bring you the fantastic piece of news that he's been found!! Found by none other than fellow actor from the Filipino Vietnam war movie days Don Gordon Bell. Don went to see Ron in Hong Kong in September (2010). Check out the pictures posted here (borrowed from Don's blog). Don has written about it on his own blog and although he doesn't say much about the many years Kristoff has been missing he does mention that he's well and that the rumours were well exaggerated. For Don's blog post go here. The piece about Ron is towards the end of the post.

Also, do read the first part of the post as it describes Don's visit to the Philippines to attend Nick Nicholson's funeral at sea. It was definitely a sad occation but at the same time also cool to see Henry Strzalkowski (who also attended) and Don Gordon Bell together again.

Thanks for your post, Don!

  5. Romano Kristoff is one classy guy. I had the pleasure of getting to know him well. He was a guest at my father's house in Rome where they were working on a film. This was around 1985. I am glad he is doing well.
