If nothing else the COVERS are finally here!

Yep, cover scans for the much anticipated new Scandinavian DVD releases of Lamberto Bava's BLASTFIGHTER and Sergio Martino's HANDS OF STEEL. BLASTFIGHTER is on DVD in Germany but reportedly in a somewhat cropped version. I'm crossing my fingers these cats are gonna do it right!! And HANDS OF STEEL has never been released on DVD before! (and please don't ask me if the DVDs are gonna carry an English audio track next to the Scandinavian!! hahaha. Only movies we dub here are kids' stuff!).

UPDATE: The AWE release dates are now set for February 15 (Hands) and March ? (Blast). The Njuta versions are February 2 (Hands) and February 23 (Blast)

The back of the cover sports a spiffy quotation from our good buddy Fred Anderson: "One of thee best action flicks of the 80s".

  1. Holy hell! I am ALL over that Hands of Steel DVD! If you zoom right in I THINK I can see it says "Anamorphic Widescreen" in the details on the bottom left!

Where will these be stocked? Loving that they kept the original posters.

  2. Unfortunately, I don't know any more about the format than you do. You'll be able to get them from this store:

    www.absurd-online.dk

The web-store is English friendly and they ship everywhere. They stock all AWE DVDs and you can deduct 25% off the price (i.e. the bloody Danish VAT) because you're outside the EU.

HANDS OF STEEL is set for release 15th of Feb.

  3. Very Excited by these & the others mooted on the horizon, particularly oddly enough by Iron Master. How good will a nice print of that look in widescreen !?. Bava's Blastfighter will be well worth obtaining. The UK video was always cut !.

  5. There's two different companies putting them out? Which ones are the covers above from?

  6. Well, they are two different companies but they are joint releases. Almost everything is the same except for the language on the cover and AWE often encloses a 4 page booklet (written in Danish) which Njuta doesn't. There's no difference in regards to prints, dubs, or subs. The covers in the above are for the Njuta versions but 99% of the time the covers are identical.

  7. Diabolik has put Hands of Steel and Ironmaster up for pre-order at $18.99 each! No Blastfighter yet though.

  8. Cheers! I checked the price of HANDS and it seems it'll be about the same as in Denmark so if the postage is cheaper then by all means get it from Diabolik. But keep in mind they deduct 25% off the price at the Absurd-online store in Denmark for those of you who are fortunately enough to live outside the EU.

  9. For all who wonder where to get these scaninavian releases there's a Swedish webshop named SubDVD (http://subdvd.com) who sells ALL releases by Njutafilms and Studio S (another company that puts out great movies) + much more.
But beware that many titles are sold out cos the store will be shut down permanently this summer, so everything is sold for 30%off until nothings left.
