[export title “Just A Damned Soldier”; released in Japan as “Violence Hunter” and in Germany as “Zum Sterben Verdammt”] [the VHS I'm getting (see scan) is definitely called JUST A DAMNED SOLDIER on the front cover but needless to say it may have been released more than once. Jack]

Great cast, great film - love this one!

This movie was edited in Spain on tape under this title: SENDERO AL INFIERNO ( Way to Hell). I specially like this movie cos the main star, Peter Hooten starred the very best ( for me) Post apocalipto movie ever shot 2020 Texas rangers (aka New Gladiators) directed by Joe D'amato. Check him also in a supporting role in Orca the killer whale or James Glickenhaus's THE SOLDIER.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, JM. :D
ReplyDeleteKarlos,
ReplyDeleteI stumbled over this tape on eBay by chance! I placed a bid and no one else did. Fabulous!
Hi Jack
ReplyDeleteIf you've not seen it yet you're in for a real treat - think it was one of the last movies Mark Gregory made and he's actually pretty good in it.
Oddly enough, all 3 leads (Hooten, Gregory & Kristoff) seem to have retired or simply vanished from the scene!
Enjoy!
Karlos
If I didn't already I certainly look forward to it now! xD (actually I haven't even received it yet). We need to find Ron Kristoff and get his story!!
ReplyDeleteJack
ReplyDeleteIf only we could find Mark Gregory, too!
Would LOVE to know where he is!!
Karlos
Sure. It would be cool to find (and talk to) all these "lost" people who were in these films!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere I read Mark Gregory was working in Rome at a Pizza Restaurant. I am not sure if I read it at nanarland or somewherelse.
ReplyDeleteisn't Ron Kristoff supposed to own a restaurant too somewhere? Or I wonder if that is just speculations. :/
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I finally got my tape TODAY so that's brilliant! :D
Rom Kristoff: in 2014 IN MANILA I was told by a mutual friend that Rom has been working in Thailand in a luxury hotel company.
ReplyDeleteEverything on this blog moves by a snail's pace. LOL. I've just now seen your comment and let it thru the spam filter. Thanks for your comment, John. In a luxury hotel! Hopefully someone will find him at some stage and do a proper interview.
ReplyDeleteMark told me on set that that would be his last film. Peter was a very nice guy...but got into a fist fight with a crew member...long story. John Dulaney.
ReplyDeleteYou can tell us the long stories, John. We've got plenty of time. ^_^
